THE AMPFORCECA APP
Our new app is now live.
The AmpForceCA app is for drivers at participating residential buildings and managed sites. It lets you see your site’s chargers, start and pay for charging, and review your charging history, all from your phone.
What you can do
Your site. See your site’s chargers and which ones are free. If they’re all busy, the app can let you know when one frees up.
Charging. Start and stop charging from your phone, and follow the energy and cost as you charge. You’ll be notified when your charge completes, before any idle or overstay fees apply. Past sessions stay in your history.
Payments. Charging is paid from a prepaid wallet that reloads from your credit card when it runs low. Your invoices are in the app, ready to download.
Private chargers. If you have a private charger, share it with family members and manage its subscription, if it has one.
Support. Message our support team from within the app, and get a notification when they reply.
First time setup
Please complete the following steps only during your initial setup. After the first time, you can skip these steps and proceed to Setting up for charging.
1. Download AmpForceCA
Use the buttons below to download the AmpForceCA app.
Make sure you have the correct app
The AmpForceEV app is built for a separate charging system and does not work with the chargers covered by this guide. Using AmpForceEV? See its setup guide.
2. Create your account
Open the app, tap “Get Started”, and sign up with Apple (on iPhone), Google, or your email address. If you sign up with email, a valid phone number is also required, and we’ll email you a code to activate your account.
3. Add a payment card
The app uses a prepaid wallet. On the Payments tab, add a credit card: it’s charged a first amount that you choose (at least a set minimum) to load your wallet. After that, your wallet reloads automatically from your card whenever the balance runs low, so you won’t need to top it up yourself. You can still add more at any time with “Top Up”, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
4. Join your site (optional)
If your building or site manager gave you a site join code, or a QR code for one, you can join your site now and see its chargers, and which ones are free, before your first charge. On the Sites tab, tap “Join a site”, then enter the code or scan the QR code.
You don’t need a code to charge: your first charging session at a site adds that site to your list automatically.
Setting up for charging
1. Connect the charger to your EV
A charger must be physically connected to the vehicle before it will accept the start signal from the app. Make sure the charging gun is properly seated in your charging port or adapter before continuing.
2. Make sure your phone is online
The app needs to reach our platform and, when required, the payment processor. Wi-Fi may be available near the charging area — check the posted signs for a Wi-Fi QR code. If you are underground and cannot connect through either cellular service or Wi-Fi, leave the connector plugged in and move to an area with reliable service.
3. Start charging
Most drivers pick their charger from the site view: on the Sites tab, tap your site to see its chargers, then tap the one you’re plugged into.
You can also tap “Start at a charger” on the Session tab, then enter the charger code printed on a label on or near the unit, or scan its QR code. That’s how you start your first charge at a site that isn’t in your list yet.
On the charger’s screen, check the price shown above “Start charging”, then tap it. Your session shows on the Session tab while it charges. When you’re done, tap “Stop charging” or unplug your car, and the session moves to your history with its receipt.
Training materials and support
Our step-by-step guide covers setting up the app and your wallet, joining your site, and charging. If you still need help, message our support team from the app (on the Profile tab, tap “Support”), or reach us directly. We’ll be happy to get you going.
